IMMIGRATION RAIDS FRONT OF MIND FOR S.A. REPS AS TRUMP INAUGURATED
Faisal Al-Juburi, RAICES Chief External Affairs Officer offered a statement about the threat of ICE raids:
"The Trump Administration’s threat of mass raids is political theater meant to incite fear and wreak havoc across the nation. It’s also a signal to the public that President Trump is making good on his campaign promise to target and vilify immigrants, asylum seekers, and refugees systematically, leveraging policies and tactics rooted in fear-mongering, xenophobia, and violence.
"It is an alarming time in Texas, the nation, and the world. Anti-immigrant and anti-humanitarian rhetoric is escalating, spurred by those at the highest level of government who thrive by inciting insecurity amongst the people they have been entrusted to protect. These threats make everyone, regardless of immigration status, feel unsafe — because an infringement on the rights of others threatens our own.
"Large-scale immigration raids will most certainly come at a great cost, morally and economically, to our nation, but RAICES remains ready to face the incredibly hostile and anti-immigrant actions of this administration, as we defend the human and legal rights of the community members we serve."
