LARGEST IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES PROVIDER IN TEXAS RATIFIES FIRST UNION CONTRACT

“Three years after voluntary union recognition, RAICES’ first Collective Bargaining Agreement is ratified.”

San Antonio, TX —  We are proud to announce that RAICES Management and the RAICES Workers Union have reached the organization’s first Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The ratification of our CBA marks a historic milestone, and a victory for nonprofit workers’ rights.

RAICES was created in 1986 to welcome and fight for families seeking safety and freedom in the U.S. We started as a two-person team in a tiny San Antonio office and kept growing. Today, with Texas roots and national reach, we advocate for the rights and prosperity of our community –– in court, in the halls of Congress, and in our workplace.

“After years of good faith negotiations, both parties have arrived at a mission-driven agreement rooted in our shared values and commitment to supporting our RAICES community, including our colleagues and clients,” says Dolores K. Schroeder, Chief Executive Officer. “We believe that our CBA is a meaningful step for RAICES in fostering the equitable, inclusive, and impactful workplace that we all envision, and I am confident that we will continue to serve as an employer of choice in the immigrant rights movement.”

RAICES now proudly provides an annualized base salary that is 14% higher than the reported average nonprofit salary in Texas, and a median annualized salary that is 3% higher than the national median across public and private sectors.

Other highlights of the ratified contract include:

  • 24 to 60-day annual paid time off (PTO) accruals, depending upon length of service;

  • 10 weeks of paid parental and postpartum leave;

  • 100% employer-paid medical insurance premiums for employees;

  • Professional development investments for every employee, ranging from $1,500 to $4,000 every two years.

By investing in the workplace experience of our dedicated employees, we are also prepared to better serve our immigrant, refugee, and asylum-seeking clients in a time of unprecedented and unrelenting attacks on the human and legal rights of our community members.

At RAICES, we are proud to be union strong.
