Our work at RAICES is rooted in compassion and grounded in justice. Every day, we strive to create a society where immigrant, refugee, and asylum-seeking people are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. Through essential legal and social services paired with advocacy, we provide a lifeline to families seeking safety and security, no matter where they were born. Our shared compassion brings forth the justice we seek.
RAICES’ Resilient Roots Mural Call for Submissions aims to harness the power of art to inspire, educate, and unite our community. This call for submissions will result in a meaningful mural at our San Antonio headquarters, capturing the essence of our mission and the stories of the immigrant, refugee, and asylum-seeking people and families we serve.
Through this project, we seek to:
Elevate Voices: Provide a platform for immigrant artists across the U.S. to share their unique perspectives and experiences through their art and create a meaningful and memorable mural at RAICES’ San Antonio, TX office headquarters campus.
Foster Community: Engage the local community in the creation and appreciation of public art that symbolizes our shared values of resilience, compassion and justice.
Build Connections: Strengthen relationships with artists, cultural organizations, community members, and supporters who share our vision of a more just and compassionate world.
Inspire Change: Use public art as a tool to spark conversations, raise awareness, and mobilize support for immigrant rights and social justice while spreading a hopeful message about the resilience of the immigrant experience.
By bringing together artists, community members, and advocates, the Resilient Roots mural competition underscores our unwavering commitment to human dignity and justice. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating and championing the rights and stories of immigrants.
