Revealed: The Trump Administration Arrested the Parents of at Least 27,000 Kids in Seven Months, ICE Records Show

An investigation by The Guardian reveals that during the first seven months of his second term, the Trump administration arrested the parents of at least 27,000 children, including over 12,000 U.S. citizens, signaling a dramatic escalation in immigration enforcement that often leads to family separation. Faisal Al-Juburi, Co-CEO of RAICES, characterized these systematic arrests and subsequent deportations as the "metastasis of family separation," arguing that the administration is using these tactics to coerce immigrants into "self-deporting" by punishing those who do not acquiesce. The report highlights that these enforcement actions frequently occur without regard for the child's citizenship or the parent’s ability to arrange for their care, a shift Al-Juburi and other advocates describe as an unconscionable disregard for the humanitarian protections previously established to safeguard the well-being of families and children.
