BIDEN ADMINISTRATION SENDING 1,500 MORE SOLDIERS TO MEXICAN BORDER
President Joe Biden's administration is sending an additional 1,500 soldiers to the border with Mexico to deal with increasing numbers of migrants and refugees trying to enter the United States. The deployment was ordered ahead of next week's relaxation of pandemic-era restrictions, which allowed border officials to turn away tens of thousands of people trying to enter the country. "[President Biden] has been very effective at taking away access to asylum, eliminating access to asylum, and, in my view, not great at protecting the rights of migrants and asylum seekers," said Javier Hidalgo, an attorney with immigrant rights advocacy group RAICES.
